Fort Wayne Peace Action is a loosely-knit group of progressive peace activists
located in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana. We are chartered by the State of Indiana
as a non-profit organization, which simply means we make no filthy lucre - nada -
zip.We got our start on the Courthouse Green (affectionately dubbed Peace Park) on
October 6, 2002, during Bush Company's runup to war, when 160 of us had a speakout
and protest. Thereafter, protests were held on a non-regular basis at that site and
other locations around town. The largest was in February, 2003, when over 350
jammed the Green, calling for no war.
Since then, a number of demonstrations, vigils, marches, memorials, bus trips to
Washington, and other actions have been held in protest of BushWar.
Fort Wayne Peace Action holds regular monthly vigils at the Green on the first
Saturday of each month (until the troops come home). Flags and signs by Tim Tiernon,
Music by Bruce Hall.
Fort Wayne Peace Action is a dues-paying member of the Indiana Peace and
Justice Network, comprised of peace communities around the state, as well as
United for Peace and Justice, a national network of peace groups.
